Air Transport Pilot Licence (ATPL)

Course Description

The ATPL training focuses on the competencies required of a pilot-in-command of a multi-crew, multi-engine, turbine-engine aircraft in a CASR Part 135 air transport operation. Once the training is complete, Flight Options will conduct the ATPL Flight Test.

This course is for pilots who have:

  • An Australian CASR Part 61 Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL) and require an Australian Air Transport Pilot Licence (ATPL).
  • An overseas ATPL and require a conversion to an Australian ATPL.

Pre-course study element 

10 day program, including:

  • 3 Ground School theory days 
  • 6 Full Flight Simulator (FFS) sessions
  • 1 Full Flight Simulator (FFS) session for assessment

Pilots will be trained in one of our onsite simulators at Flight Options, Sunshine Coast. Each FFS session is 4 hours, plus a briefing and debriefing. Two students acting as crew are scheduled for each course to allow operations in both the Pilot Flying (PF) and Pilot Monitoring (PM) roles.

If two students are training at the same time, each session is scheduled for 4 hours.

 

Ground School theory includes:

  • ATPL – pre-course study
  • Aircraft systems familiarisation
  • Flight test knowledge review
  • Standard Operating Procedures
  • Exam

Flight Training includes:

  • Avionics Familiarisation
  • Normal Operations
  • Emergency/Abnormal operations
  • Pre-Test
  • ATPL Flight Test

To be eligible to commence Air Transport Pilot Licence (ATPL) Training, you must hold at least:

  • Australian Aviation Reference Number (ARN)
  • CASR Part 61 or overseas Flight Crew Licence
  • Current Class 1 Civil Aviation Medical Certificate
  • Current ASIC or AVID
  • Satisfies the requirements for grant of ATPL licences as per CASR Part 61.700 and 61.705
  • Holds or has held an IR MEA with IAP 2D and IAP 3D endorsements or overseas equivalent
